Working with Edmentum was my first experience being embedded within a large, multinational enterprise team as a designer. I stepped into an active UX role and was expected to contribute immediately, collaborating closely with another designer based in the UK as well as product managers and developers across the organization. Early on, I supported UX audits and design system cleanup, but one of the core initiatives I worked on was redesigning the student-facing experience for grades three through five. The existing interface had remained largely unchanged for nearly a decade and suffered from accessibility issues, dated visual patterns, and unclear information hierarchy. The redesigned screens focused on clearer structure, improved color usage, and presenting more meaningful information at a glance, while reducing unnecessary navigation and interaction overhead.

Alongside design work, I participated in ongoing user research and usability testing in collaboration with product managers. We ran frequent testing sessions with educators from across the Amercia, iterating week by week on early wireframe designs for a new assignment flow that would support how teachers assign work to their students. These sessions not only informed design decisions, but also provided valuable insight into modern classroom environments where digital tools, tablets, smart boards, and over filled classrooms are the norm. Designing within this context reinforced the importance of accessibility, clarity, and flexibility in the digital educational experience, especially for teachers managing diverse student needs.

By the end of the contract, the redesigned student and teacher experiences had been finalized, tested, and handed off to development for planned implementation in 2026. More importantly, the work reinforced how effective design outcomes improve when collaboration happens early and often. Partnering closely with product managers, developers, and another UX designer in a high-feedback, fast-moving environment sharpened both the quality and pace of the work.

This project was a valuable shift from solo or small-team engagements into true enterprise-scale design, where clear communication, adaptability, and shared ownership are essential. Stepping into an established team and contributing immediately strengthened my confidence working within complex organizations, and it’s a team-based design environment I'll actively seek out moving forward.
